As I headed out this morning to go grocery shopping, I saw a gaggle of kids with bags running from one house to the next across the street. On my side of the street, I saw another gaggle of kids with bags. Oops, this neighborhood trick-or-treats on the Saturday morning before Halloween? (This will be my first Halloween in the neighborhood.)
I stayed on my porch until the kids approached my house. “You all trick-or-treating today?” I asked the parent.
“No,” she chuckled, “we’re with Loveland Girl Scouts and we’re collecting canned goods for the food pantry.”
Ah-ha! I finally got it. I told them to wait a second and I’d see what I had. I gave each of the three girls a can of our finest goods (tuna, peas and mixed vegetables).
Just another reason to love Loveland: the local Girl Scouts hitting the streets early on a Saturday to collect food for those not as fortunate enough to be able to grocery shop once a week.
Thank you, Loveland Girl Scouts for helping our community!
